What stage is the Romeo Community Housing Initiative Foundation at right now?

We are an early-stage nonprofit in the planning and capacity-building phase. Our 501(c)(3) status is effective February 17, 2026, and our federal registrations (EIN, UEI, SAM.gov) are on file. We have not yet acquired land or built any homes. Everything describing communities, unit counts, acreage and timelines represents aspirational planning goals — not completed work or guarantees.

No. All figures, dates and projections are good-faith planning estimates that will change as we secure funding, land and partners. Please treat them as our vision and direction, not commitments.

What kind of housing are you planning to build?

Voucher-ready, Section 8-based affordable housing communities that welcome Housing Choice Voucher families — sustainable, renewable-energy-powered homes with family support services. Our first focus area is the Pueblo, Colorado region, with a long-term vision to expand across rural Colorado and beyond.

Why is there a fee to join the housing interest waitlist or to apply for a role?

The small fees ($5 for the housing interest waitlist, $25 for an employment application) are non-refundable administrative and processing fees. They help cover the real cost of reviewing and managing submissions during this early volunteer-run stage. They are not deposits, rent, application guarantees, or offers of housing or employment.

Does paying a fee guarantee me housing or a job?

No. Paying a fee only registers your interest or application for review. It does not reserve a home, guarantee placement, or guarantee employment. No homes are built yet, and hiring depends on future funding.

No. These are non-refundable administrative/processing fees. Please review our refund policy in full before submitting any payment.

Yes. Payments are processed by a trusted third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card details on our servers.

How does the Section 8 / Housing Choice Voucher model work here?

Our communities are being designed to be voucher-ready, meaning families who hold a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) would be able to use it toward rent once homes are built and available. Voucher eligibility and issuance are handled by public housing authorities, not by us.

When will homes actually be available?

Our current plan targets breaking ground on a first community in the 2027–2028 window, subject to securing land, funding and permits. These dates are planning estimates and may shift. Joining the waitlist simply registers your early interest.

Land is one of the most valuable ways to help. If you own property in the Pueblo or rural Colorado region and would consider a sale, donation, or long-term partnership, reach out through our Get Involved page and we will follow up personally. Any use of land would have to meet Colorado water-rights and land-use requirements.

Do you work with public housing authorities?

Our communities are being designed to be voucher-ready so they can work alongside local public housing authorities, which issue and administer Housing Choice Vouchers. We are not a housing authority ourselves and do not issue vouchers.
